FEE Portugal – ABAE (Associação Bandeira Azul da Europa) has for the last 12 years carried out the project Young Reporters for the Environment (YRE), which is part of the international network of the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE).

Every so often, each country in the project (currently 17 ) organizes a YRE Mission which constitutes a unique chance for students to apply the skills they have acquired at school whilst undertaken their projects: environmental and journalistic investigation, production of communication pieces, publication and communication of the investigation results within the media and  the community; assessment of questions and problems related to sustainability and seeking solutions.

The group of Young Reporters who will take part in the mission will come from schools which are part of the YRE network either at a national or international level. Twenty students (10  Portuguese and 10  foreigners) are expected to participate and  will have to submit an application according to which they will be selected based on the school’s participation and on the quality of the individual and group work.

The mission will take place throughout one week and will involve field work, interviews, group work, creation of articles and other communication pieces and culminate in the production  of  a press conference.

The mission will be disseminated via all types of medias at both a regional and national level, as well as throughout the international YRE network.
